Auberge Pom'Poire // France
While visiting family in France in 2021, I reached out to an old friend from elementary school, Bastien Gillet, who had become the chef of Auberge Pom'Poire in Azay-le-Rideau, the village where we grew up in the Loire Valley. I asked if I could spend a day immersed in the restaurant, documenting the team and their work behind the scenes.
Throughout the day, I photographed the rhythm of the kitchen, the precision of the team, and the creativity behind each dish. Watching Bastien transform local, seasonal ingredients into refined and beautifully executed plates was incredibly inspiring. His creativity, attention to detail, and commitment to his craft were evident in every step of the process.
These photographs offer a glimpse into a restaurant deeply connected to its region, where local ingredients, technical expertise, and creativity come together to create a memorable dining experience.
